I used addme awhile back for one of my site, it takes awhile to get submitted but you get everyday an email from them.
Try submitting to http://www.submitexpress.com/ and what others said addme.com is excellent one also...
If you are merely trying to get your site listed in the search engines, run an ad on Craigslist in San Francisco with your link worked into it. Your url will be listed within 24 hours; 48 hours at the most.
i used it before that's pretty good free service. also you can download the free search engine submision software but most of them are the demo version and can submit to only about 50 search engines. (but it's free anyway) ps. some search engine might not like you to submit your site by software. Also better to submit your site to major search engine first, coz once you are indexed, the same data will be handed to other minor search engine and you will be there as well. more information see from http://addme.com
Have some backlinks and leave it to the search engine bots , if they can not find you that's their problem.But as I said without backlinks that'll never happen.
They are correct forum signature is fastest indexing than that of submitting to search engines.... the SE are crawling the entire web for the freshed informations they get.. Through a forum there are plenty of fresh data they can gather....
