I believe it's just with go-daddy because my domains are hosted at a different provider and haven't recieved any refund..

The other providers probably quietly pocketed the refund.

Hmm.. very possible since my provider is a small company compared to go-daddy, who doesn't need the extra $1... this might actually benefit go-daddy more in the long run !

Via go-daddy only though.. I wonder why not the others.. I'm curious if they did send it to other providers but they're not refunding it to us..

Godaddy is the only registrar that I know of that shows the ICANN charge on top of their advertised price. When you buy an $8.95 domain from GoDaddy they add the $.25 ICANN fee to that - and it is therefore difficult for them not to refund the ICANN price drop. Other registrars bury the ICANN fee in their advertised price and treat it as an expense. If they reduced their other expenses (ie rent, webhosting, electricity etc...) would you also expect a refund? GoDaddy is more or less obligated to refund the ICANN fee but other registrars who don't show it separately aren't.

It works both ways. When Verisign increases prices later this year you will find many registrars won't pass on the full price increase to the penny.
