I think Google wants it but I dont think ebay will like it. Ebay is an advertising business on which you can sell your product. Maybe Google want to add new services more on buying and selling of product.
eBay wont sell themselves. I'm sure they won't, they want to grow all big, mighty and powerful just like Google (in fact they do match up a lot) IT
ebay is good in online auction and google in search (so called good) who knows in the future they may be beaten fast by some others.
I don't think Google would go near eBay cos of all the potential fraud, and especially not PayPal cos to fix up all the major problems that is has and to stop the tens of thousands of people hating it, it would cost a lot and be a lot of trouble. Though i think Google may set up a payment system like PayPal (that is clear and doesn't have the problems that PayPal does); as they've taken the first step by introducing Google Checkout
When I read the title of this post, I had to stop and think.. hmmm... I've been a eBay stock holder since they went public... and I just don't really see if this kind of a takeover would work. Mainly from the dollar standpoint. eBay has such a huge market cap, I don't think Google would be able to afford them, nor do I think eBay would agree to be acquired. But who knows.. stranger things have happened!
Not sure what you are asking? I initially bought some stock the night before it went public at $18 a share and sold it all when it hit $281 a share.. then I repurchased some more when it dipped a few years ago.
My prediction - Google buys Microsoft and in around 4-5 years everything in the world Tree's, Tv's, Chairs, Apple's and so on will all have "Powered by Google"
Earnings aren't everything. User satisfaction is important to a company's success, something that eBay doesn't currently have high levels of.
You have it backwords; earnings is a reflection of consumer satisfaction. If you think that Ebay is a failed business, then you have absolutely no idea what running a business it like.
