So I thought it would be cool to see what kind of cms's people like. The main things I want to know are information about joomla as I know drupal really well.. Obviously with any software there are + and - to everything. No one software is perfect. So it would be cool to here about other key features whether its joomla, drupal, or any other cms's!! LET THE SHOWDOWN BEGIN! (This is where you defend and attack other cms's that aren't the ones you use )
obv. joomla! wins a heartbeat. 2 weeks ago I had never a webpage beyond simple HTML hello world. Devoting maybe 60 hours total I have now made like 15 unique webpages lol... with forums and YOUTUBE EMBEDDED IN THE content...
Hey htboy, do you know if it's possible to create a site like tv.com? categories and such? AS well as different article types like news, reviews, etc,..and can you not have a bloggish front page? I want a page like cnn.com or something. whats are the best Drupal sites you've seen?
yeah man i believe you can do that for sure as far as the front page goes you have to do some modification to it. I think there is a module that does it for you actually.. Just check out the drupal website and they have tons of websites that use them!!
In my opinion I like drupal better but truthfully I dont think it matters if you use joomla or drupal its just what you learn to use first or what admin system you like better etc.
I really like Joomla The components and modules for it are amazing and really easy to install and use.
Wordpress - I've started work on porting my blog to it and it has been a pain. It's OK, but over-hyped. I've done too much work to turn back though and try out another blogging tool. Drupal - a great piece of kit. Highly customisable and easy if the time is taken to find the right modules. Easy to theme compared to Joomla. Great for importing lots of data in to. Joomla - I found the admin interface terrible and most Joomla sites are obvious... so template-looking, generic. But really it's all down to personal preference. Use whatever works for you. Although the best CMS is always the one you write yourself as it contains all the features you need and none of those you don't. :-D
I am using Drupal, sometimes I find it really rubbish and its hard to find seo modules that work so I don't get much search traffic
I'd say "Joomla!". I use it on about 20 of my sites and because of its massive modding community it does everything I want, and I have encountered only a few minor bugs which could be fixed easily. Also the huge, huge template community for Joomla! is really awesome. So my vote goes to Joomla! Also I nominate it for the "most pointless punctuation" award. David
If you like, PM me links to a few of your drupal sites and I'll give you feedback about changes you could make, modules to use, etc.
joomla raock the others . here are the reason * joomla is simple and flexible cms * it has tons of extensions on http://extensions.joomla.org/ * it has a great community and support on http://forum.joomla.org/
I've been using Joomla for a while, since before the Mambo split. Yes, the learning curve is a little much for the beginning webmaster, but the community is outstanding. Rarely do I have to code much myself, what I want is already out there. Also, I've had great luck in using Joomla in SEO terms.
