Great results is everything. If all the results are spam, the engine is no good.

Search engine that would display accurate and informative result.
Search engine that would offer good services and featured other services that can be used by the user and computer expert.

    1. Speed
    2. Plainness
    3. Low ads
    4. Reliability
    5. Google

Although I would say they should start looking ahead to the future. Google did revolutionize the search engine "industry", but what happens if another company does something ahead of our time. I think it's time to step into the future and make search engines a bit better. Google is great but I don't think it is always as relevant in searches as it could be. Just no Ms. Deweys please.

I think the most important factors are relevancy, and ease/simplicity. Yahoo is pretty relevant but it is complex. I don't think many people who go on google, use all the mail and stuff. Yahoo needs to get rid of that stuff from the main page and focus on simplicity and ease.

    IMHO, best answer yet.

Though I also agree with Dinvest in LIGHT advertising (and clearly marked sponsor listings).

It depends of what do you mean by 'good'. There are many factors. Even 'speed' has many aspects. But if I can make a certain query and get certain and limited results, then this would be what I like.

Well, when it comes down to it, search engines link users to the information they want. So the best search engine would be one that scans your brain and displays the page you want to read immediately :-D
