Hello, I am wondering if constant editing of the webpages already index will affect the pages on the search engine. By ‘editing’ I mean proof-reading the articles. Thanks for your ideas.
In a word, no. Getting it right is not going to hurt you. Constantly changing and adding content is unlikely to hurt. In fact, my sites which are constantly adding new material, are spidered more frequently by Google than my less dynamic sites. They also have better page rank and their PR hardly every changes.
The answer is no.... Even you always update your page your PR is not affected.. PR is about counts of your quality links... Updating pages are better in terms of quality contents...
SEs loves constantly changing contents. Though I'm not sure whether editing typos will be considered as changing contents, I'm sure that you are not going to be negatively affected by it.
Hello, I want to thank you guys for the advice. However, I noticed that most of the keywords on my webpages were not what people were actually searching when I cross checked with WordTracker. Yesterday and today, I entered the keywords on my webpages into WordTracker one after the other. Guess what happen? I find that most of the keywords were not correct. I quickly changed them. I changed the keywords -- the titles and sub-titles. Now here is my fear... Don't you think this will affect my webpages on the search engines because all the pages were already indexed. Here is what I find out: A while ago, someone came to my site through MSN to one of the pages, but after making the changes, the page disappears on MSN. Please advice.
Maybe I was not clear with my post. I did not add new contents but changed the KEYWORDS - TITLES and SUB-TITLES Hello Dan.Jaye,
1. Updating the keywords on your pages' content will almost certainly help, not hurt. You have researched the keywords on WordTracker. By changing them to more relevant keywords, you are improving your chances in the search results. 2. Updating the keywords in your title to more relevant words will also help. 3. Changing keywords in your URL is big trouble! For example, if your page is www . my domain/keyword1.html and you change it to www . my domain/keyword2.html, that becomes an entirely new URL, and that new one will not yet even be indexed until the search engines find it.
if you are changing the way it looks visually the search engines, or snap may have different cached pictures than what your site actually looks like
Agree, changing around your URL structure is dangerous and will cause all of your currently indexed pages to disappear and need to be re-indexed. I did this once before I realized the impact and can't say I would recommend it.
If you change the <title>...</title> frequently, you may suffer a loss in the SERPs because the spiders will be "confused" about your "theme". I don't say; don't change the title but don't change it every week. My testing showed, one or two times a year is ok but doing it frequently will make your site jumping up and down all the time.
well change is something is always liked by Google, but when done in the right way and in the right direction.
