Hey everyone. This might sound like a lame question, but I am new to this...

So, how to do web hosting yourself???

What would I need to buy??

Is it worth it if I just want to host simple adsense websites?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks!!!

Do NOT use oversellers as they are not very good.
Look for a host that suits your needs, it's simple.

(Good one in my sig :D)

Well, what you do mean by 'do web hosting yourself' ?

Most of us do not own datacenters nor do we set up a computer in our home/office to run sites but rely on datacenters and web hosts to do that for us.

Of course, some of us uses dedicated servers, Virtual Private Servers, Resellers or Web hosting accounts to host our sites.

Hosting at your home may not be a good idea because not only would it be costly, your ISP may not allow you to do so. Also some ISP limit the upload speed (which would be your visitor's download speed from your site). A Datacenter will have state-of-the-art equipments, 24/7 tech support and better dedicated network. Besides it is cheap too.

If you are just hosting couple of sites then any multi site shared hosting would do, however if you are running high traffic sites and want more control then a reseller account would probably serve you better.

If you have the budget, VPS rocks.
