How long did it take you for your PR to originally rise

I've had a couple of sites been going for over a year now, and have to admit, I haven't really been utilising them well. I'm still working on getting a real set of content, but anyway.

I'm guessing most people here with websites have like PR2/3 and I was just wondering in general, how long did it take you get your Page Rank up?

I was just thinking about it a while ago, and I have had quite a few back links to my website, even though I haven't had my page ranks for any sites go up above 0 :(.

    Thanks for your help.

Varies. I had a site get pr 5 (from pr 0) in about 3ish weeks with $20 advertising. Ive also had sites that are 6 months old, spend hundreds advertising / building links and still no pr and crummy se rankings.

I've had sites go from PR 0 to 4 in a few months, with only free directory submissions, and I've had other sites still stuck at PR 0.

2 of your 3 sites have no content whatsoever.

Anyways, good luck. It won't take long once you get some real content.

    Ps, don't use frames. :)

My sites usually hit PR4 by the first update.

I have not measured this for my old web-sites, but for a new project I've got PR3 in 2 months.

PageRank goes up each update.. PR2 is easy to get.. I think.. a week's worth would do.. or less.. but then again some of my backlinks come in naturally.

Almost all of my sites go directly to PR3-5 in their first updates (ususally at one to two months old), and I just had my first PR6 this update with a site I've been running less than a year that spent most of last year just sitting stagnant. That's without directory submissions or any of the other typical mass-link-building strategies you'll see talked about, b/c that's not my style. I simply interact with other bloggers and site owners, and I work to offer content that people will link to naturally. It works. The only exceptions to the 3-5 range are when I launch a site right before an update and they get picked up (didn't think it was possible at first, but it's happened twice now, with both getting a PR2 immediately, and then upped to a 4 during their next update). Just worry about building your site, networking, and dealing with traffic. PR will come on its own... it shouldn't be your top concern.

Getting PR is easy, I usually make PR3-4 on the first update too. PR doesn't mean traffic though ;)

It took me three months to move from PR 0 to PR2. I was not working on the site much because I have heard people move double that rank in less time.

How is your traffic? Are you satisfied with it? If so, screw PageRank! You obviously don't need it! :)

PR rose gradually over the first year — to PR2, to PR4 — then eventually to PR5 after two years (back to PR4 lately).

I can't pin it down for sure, but it seems that the PR took a good leap when I began submitting to some paid directories.

My site went from 0 to PR4 in about a month and half. I got only 12 backlinks for it for free mostly here on the forums, but I think it was the content of my site that helped to reach PR4 quickly. It was almost all just copied from Wikipedia (of course with links back to Wikipedia). I was amazed when I checked the PR of my site and saw PR4.

Got a new site to PR2 in a couple weeks.

Just coincidentally happened to launch it right towards the beginning of April as the link data for the recent PR update was getting locked in.

Was expecting PR0 or PR1, so was pleasantly surprised to see a PR2.

Free directories can help you get PR 3 - 4 easily, just like zan23 mentioned above. You can do a little bit of more link building or maybe buy a few links to further boost your PR. I wrote a How to get PR 5 for your site article a few months back. It really works if you follow it.

Some of the link development strategies mentioned in this article might also help you.

    PR4 (from PR0) in about a month. $0 spent.

As rosiee007 has said, quality links and free directory submissions can help a lot. :)

PR is like a fake tan. What matters is your web site SERP and content. You may get 6 in the next update and afterwards your will go back to 4 for no reason.

PR algorithm is mysterious to everybody -including those who created[it]

I have a few 2 month old sites recently getting PR2 or PR3. But I have sites that haven't got anything even after a year.

And recently I got a few sites that got downgraded from PR4 to PR3.

I can't seem to predict. Sometimes sites that I neglect do better than others.
