If Microsoft could pull this off and keep Yahoo well funded at the same time, Google could fall. Combine AdCenter and Yahoo Publisher, and roll out a descent alternative to Adsense, and you'll have more people than you realize. Unfortunately, YPN's termination fest is hurting any chance it will ever have.

I think Y! is positioned just fine as the top SE in Japan, and the MSFT deal came as a big shock to me. It's not worried about Google, but Baidu's entry into the market could hurt Y considerably.

I think Y stock will fall or stagnate as market share falls to Baidu over the next two years, which will create a real buying opportunity for the M&A specialists at MSFT.

Are you serious? There is no way that Google's market cap is going to double in five years. What exactly do you think that Google is going to do in the next five years to see such monstrous growth?

Google won't be able to win in MSFT's turf.

Yahoo knows that it can'r surveive without a major change in their policies. When the management changes when MS takes over it's just good for the consumers.

I believe that MS has a broader vision than Yahoo and therefore welcome this deal.

looks like microsoft will be the future king! i would love to see live.com come up as a better search engine then google! with yahoo's search abilities, i hope it will be easy for msn to beat google.

actually most of the webmasters don't like google, and YPN might go international finally, so google is in danger right now!

I can't see it happening. I think antitrust laws, anti-competition laws will prevent it

I hate to break it to you all but Microsoft knows that the future is Service not Selling Operating Systems / Office Suites. That is where google has been heading in the past 2 years. Again Microsoft will have to play catch up. Don't believe me. I guess time will tell.

I know that Jonathan Shoemoney been blogging about this merger on his blog since last year. Why Microsoft Will Acquire Yahoo In 2007 is a pretty good read about Microsoft will buy Yahoo this year.

This is from his blog(minus the imbeded follow through links. For that go to his blog and click on what you want to follow up on.

If Microsoft and Yahoo get together it will be to compete with adsense. They will still be two unique companies thou.
