Gas prices are going outrageous. If we don't get together, these oil companies will keep on making billions of dollars. Let's get together and put up a show. Do not pump gas on 15th May 07, that's all we gotta do. For one day we can stop their cash flow and see what happens. If you agree, digg this! http://digg.com/business_finance/Don_t_Pump_Gas_on_15th_May_07
Man, would I love to see something like this organized... Would fuck up quite a lot of business. Distributers would come to fill the station, to find full loads.
If something like this could be carried out, that'd be amazing to see. It would take a LOT of people though. I'll spread the word, cause I don't drive yet.
it's be nice if something like this actually worked...but there are too many people who don't give a crap...no one would ever be able to organize enough people to bother the oil companies... nice thought though
I used to get these every 17 days on email...another one is ~ "don't buy from the evil godhead of Mobile/Exxon on X date (since thy are the biggest oil company)". Funny though, how prices just keep going up and Mobile/Exxon's profits keep on doubling & tripling every quarter to your point though, you're exactly right. You'd need a massive effort to organize poeple that will cooperate but most people are too thick/lazy. heck, why do you see 7 cars buying gas at a station that is 8-12 cents more expensive than the one that is across the street? Brand loyalty? Maybe 2 of them, but the other 5 are just clueless.
Wouldn't make a bit of difference. They won't lower the gas price because people decided for 1 day they aren't buying. It'd take alot longer.
its a fab idea, it will never work, its practically not possible to get the word around, and even if you do 50% of pepole wont care and will pump gas anyway
Would you rather have gas prices lowered and let other people consume all of it and have none left for yourself?
I don't this that's the way to do it. It just won't make a difference. The supply and demand stays the same. It's just that the consumption it delayed. --Joe
well, we could do a beta. but instead of using gas, we will require a few users to go without air for the day...any volunteers??
it will never happen....if you truly want the price of oil to come down, then we need to start drilling. We need to quit worrying about enviro-weenies and start using the God-given resources that we have. Also, if we want to stop global warming, we need to have everyone in the world open their windows and turn on their air conditioners full blast....that should do it.
Start drilling? how about getting some alternative energy...wind, sun, ethanol, biodiesel...something renewable so my kids in 70 years are still able to live the way we've been privileged to live plus, what's the point of a big boycott? so nobody goes and fills one day...if they need gas, the next day you're going to fill and they makeup the profits. also, the local owners of stations would be hurt right away...not XOM headquarters... high gas prices are caused by capitalism and markets. and ironically, most people support free enterprise..
Oil companies arent the ones raising the oil price!! Its OPEC and some MF need to stop all the wars and look up the definition of peace in dictionary and everything will be good
Best to coordinate this with an event like the "International Walk Week" or something like that, them promoting to help the environment, you promoting destruction of your local gas station.
It's a good intentioned idea but would not be effective even if you could get every person in the US to participate. Small, temporary events don't mean anything to multi-billion dollar businesses. One day is nothing. People will buy the same amount of gas, just on different days. It would have to continue for weeks or months to make any difference.
