    I've seen this status appear only on domains registered via godaddy. It seems to be somehow related to "locking" the domain. I'm being speculative here...

    No. CDP means the domain name can't be deleted, period.

    Can you link to some authoritative source that clarifies that? I'm just curious as I searched for it & couldn't find anything.

    It means what it says: the domain name cannot be deleted.

    but can i transfer it to another company like namecheap? i cant find anything when i search google and it seems to apply to only godaddy?

    Very easy to find if one looks hard enough:

    That and a couple of other status lines have been adopted since then.

    A .com domain name can be transferred to another registrar as long as all the
    conditions for transfer are met (e.g. beyond 60-days of registration). The line
    ClientTransferProhibited will change to OK when unlocked.

    isnt CLIENTDELETEPROHIBITED and clientDeleteProhibit differnt thats y i couldnt find anything i was looking for clientDeleteProhibit

    Both are the same meaning the domain cannot be cancelled and can be transferred,locked,modified or can be renewed.
