This would mean that Microsoft actually gets a search engine people use. Good for them there Live thing did not quite work.

Microsoft steals everyone's ideas, and even after they steal their ideas, they can't beat someone at something (search engines, ads, antivirus, etc) they buy them out. What a cheap ass tactic.

Whatever happens, NOTHING will top google as the #1 search engine, not even if Yahoo and MSN merge and create a super search engine.... everyone is too used to Google and they're not going to change search engines so easily (especially when they have it embedded in Firefox or the google toolbar ).

This should be interesting, but it has to be seen if Yahoo is actually interested in this or not.

This rise in YHOO stock price is just speculation by investors. The news is really just a rumor. From the WSJ:

Great Attatchement. I did not know google was worth that much. In a couple of years google should surpass Microsoft.

qwestcommunications wrote 'I wonder if they will merge their search to create a super search engine, one capable of competiting with Google search'
y....yes i would imagine that would be the main motivation of the merger and yes, I think this is the only way they can compet with google at this point in time. MSN is still a distant third, even after years of trying hard with all of their resources and competitive advantages.
