Public domain content are good.. but placing in your site (SE wise) there are others who have used the same articles.. so it's basically duplicating content. There are FREE articles on the internet as well...
In my opinion, there is no easy way to write articles and I absolutely agree - duplicating content is much more a worse bet than sitting down, researching materials and writing articles in the most common and, unfortunately, boring way.
