I've launched a new website that due to the nature of the service/content is available only to Australian users. Consequently I've had trouble promoting the site to get relevant traffic as the Australian blogosphere and social networking scene is quite underdeveloped compared to North America. A press release through PRLeap gave very little. I'm planning to purchase targetted advertising on StumbleUpon, but are there any other practical ideas to generate traffic for localised (non-blog) sites?
I don't know about localized sites but craigs list @ craigslist.org is a really great place for your local areas. There is great strategy ebooks for craigs list, you can look around for it. You can also use PPC and do local keywords for your site. I don't know but try those. yang
I would not reccommend facebook... it's way too hard and people don't usually accept strangers as friends.. just my two cents.
