Hi, I am going to start an online store soon. I want to know how much the domain name help then SERP. For example: A camera store with the key words digital camera in it. If I start www.digitalcamerajeoff.com, with the key word digital camera affect my SERP?
Yes. Having keyword in domain name is major SEO parameter, in fact its top SEO practice. Make sure you have your primary keyword in your domain name. Here are few more SEO Tips
You want your keywords in domain name for 2 reasons. Serps and for people to be able to tell what site is about just by looking at the domain name.
It's definitely important - do it if you can, but don't assume you won't get rankings without it. It seems content is king these days...
Thanks guys. Is there any differnce in having a digit in a domain name? say i have digitalcameras9_dot_com instead of digitalcamerasjeoff_dot_com
What's the relevancy of '9' or 'jeoff' with digital cameras? If the answer is none then why have either in the domain name? It doesn't make sense. DigitalCameraGuru or Expert is a lot more logical.
Yeap, keywords in domain name helps in SEO. But domain name should not be too long as its difficult to remerber and will create problem in branding.
Keywords in domain name can help you get a better ranking but your ranking would still depends on how you optimized the site with your targeted keywords.
I have heard both that keywords do help with SERPs and then I've heard that they don't matter. Does anyone have a study handy which demonstrates that they do indeed help a SERP? I'd think this would be hard to demonstrate. Of course I do recognize that keyword laced domain names will help make them memorable so that make them worthwhile in and of itself.
Absolutely, the keyword in the domain will give you a boost when relevant. Even subdomains with relevant keywords help your rankings. planetocean.com has alot of info on this though you may need to register.
Yes , It helps a lot , Example , I have registered a new domain , I didn't do much SEO . But when I search "seo expert company", its comming in all search engines in the top ten , Cos, my domain name has those keywords...
A month ago I wrote this article on choosing profitable website domain names for SEO you might find it helpful. Cheers, Venetsian.
Yes domain helps but the main and important thing is to develop the site with all seo point of view in mind and service providing by you are easily accessible to the visitor or customer.
When you search in google or any other search engine you see words in domain and url are highlighted. And I'm sure they do add some value to ranking. So choosing domain name right is very important for initial phase of your rank development. Numbers in domain probably won't make much difference unless people specifically search for them. But even then they can be trimmed from search query.
ya it helps and its good to have your most important keyword in the domain name search engine loves it.
From my experience having my keywords only (no filler) helped me achieve top rank for my keyword quickly (note that it had low competition...). I find that having your keyword in your HTML page names (keyword.html) helps a lot as well.
