Are there any directory owners tracking paid submissions? I mean tracking how those submitters reach your directory? By setting up a goal in GA?
Aha,how did you know? And welcome back,MeetHere. Haven't seen you around lately and somehow I missed you.lol
I went for a vacation for 3 days -- Yes I missed DP and you too Read the statement from ask-dir here - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=304835&page=2
it will be quite a helpful in taking decisons on promotions. But how can we do that any tool etc?? Sanjay
I'm surprised there's not a mod for submitters to say where they heard about your directory on the submissions page.
Aha that's a good idea,we can implement it into the submit form....Just add an extra field there.....Hmm.....*gonna the phpld forum*
Well tracking conversion is the key to high ROI, invest more on the things that bring you paying customers.
Yup! It'll just point me to a right direction. I think setting a goal in GA could be done, but I don't know which url to use...started a thread there in phpld forum, will keep you guys updated..
Here's feedback from one paid submitter. 1) My #1 source of submission opportunities is Digital Point. 2) Second best is Google-searched lists of paid directories. I much prefer source #1 (DP) for three reasons: • DPers tend to have high-quality paid directories. • DPers from time to time offer some great "specials". • I like to give my business to forum members who have been a great help to me in building my website as a "senior citizen". I entered the webmaster world 3 years ago at age 61, knowing nothing of SEO, etc. The help of DP members has been invaluable.
It's pretty easy. Just go to edit, then under goal conversions and funnel select edit. For the Goal URL put http://www.domain.com/payment.php?payed Then we like to watch the whole funnel, so we put Step 1: http://www.domain.com/submit we name this Submit View step 2: http://www.domain.com/payment.php?id= we name this Listing submitted Then under additional setting just choose head match for the match type. The only 2 issues we have with this is we can't tell featured from regular. So we err on the side of caution and put the value in as the price of a regular. And if the vistior doesn't send a referrer then we can't tell where they came from(which is extremely common). Hope this helps Morty
@jmort732 - can you tell where to add the google analytics code ? ( i mean exact place in the php file )
No problem! Glad to help. You guys/gals always provide such great information, it was nice to be able to help out MeetHere - just like Richie said just place in your templates footer.tpl file right above the </body> tag. Then just sit back and watch the funnel BTW, here is a really great tip I learned a long time ago. It sounds cheesy but it works. Every Monday morning, I set aside a specific time to review all of the conversions / funnels for each website. This way I can immediately see what is working / and not working and it allows me to quickly understand what my priorities for the week are Morty
Hi All, FWIW, I just got a webinar invite for "getting more out of Google analytics". For me personally, I know there is a lot more info that I could be using if I just knew more about GA (the help files leave a lot to be desired). The new interface does help. Anyway here is the URL, not sure if the link will work or not (aka not sure if it is personalized to my invite), but its worth a try. The webinar is on 6/20/07 https://www.gotomeeting.com/register/418419028
