    Hey,

I have a christian site/community, and the site is blocked in some islamic countries (because it is a christian' site)

so I am thinking about buying a new domain and put the same content of the blocked site, so people can have access

but as far as I understood, google don't like that and will consider it as duplicate content

is it dangrous to do it?

    Thanks in advance!

In some way - yes, but I've tried once the copy concent of my main site, on subdomain and there were nothing wrong with Google. At least - you can set noindex and nofollow on these, duplicated sites, then Google will not take it but people still can acces it by linking from another pages.

If you want traffic to your 2nd site from Google, it won't work and Google will consider them as duplicate contains.

Or, the Islamic countries will find out about the 2nd site soon enough and block that, too.

Heinlein99 is right, getting a new domain probably won't help these people get access.

It's possible that your site is blocked because of the keyword "christian", so their software may even be blocking it automatically. If it isn't, your site could well be found and blocked soon enough anyway.

Setting up a duplicate website will cost you money, take up your time, and probably won't work. Perhaps you will get more of a result by starting a letter or email-writing campaign, lobbying for freedom of religion and a stop to this censorship? In most places this is considered a basic human right. You have a busy forum, so get your members to help you and you will probably achieve something positive.

So this is interesting problem to solve. Maybe some kind of encrypted connection could help in this case? hmm...

I can imagine it would get blocked pretty quickly again - you will have to try to get readers in those countries to go through proxy servers - there are loads of free ones about now.

I have read couple of articles and comments about some people who got this working without a problem with google, but I wonder what google action will be if they find out and consider my sites as duplicate contant

You are right, and this is what I am afraid of...

heinlein99, pwhite and seo ranter, you are right, but it worths tryinging that and see how long it will work, especially the domain doesn't cost much and I can reach all the users by e-mail to invite them to the new site... but yeah I am sure they will block the new domain too, the question is how long time it will take them...

very interesting idea, and I have already published something near to that (e-mailing back and forth, but no positive results) , but really didn't think about getting help of my members... Thanks for the tip

this is what I am doing with 1 of the domains I have, I am using 301 redirect, but I don't think the blocked site will work anyway!

I know that many people using proxies to reach the site, but encrypting the connection sounds like an idea, especially that I am a software engineer and might code something can achive that if it is possible.. I will research that

My site/community is in arabic, and it is for christians people who lives in the arabic countries or can speak arabic

I already have a good number of members from around the world who participating in the site, plus the site is not blocked in all the arabic countries

I have a busy forum with good number of posts and members and everything is going well and the site is very active and getting better and better

I am just trying to reach even more poeple..

    Thank you all
