Is the universe infinate?

How can it be? Surely, it could not just come into being all those billions of years ago. There has to be a more logical explanantion. And I believe this is where God comes in. Yes, sure the world came into existance from an explosion of gases (big bang), but there would have to be a superior existence that was behind such actions. One could also question how God came into being. This is why I believe God is not a "man" but the infinate space we see around us.

If we knew, wouldn't we be God?

    what?
God is not space, he created it.
God is infinite, he wasnt created he has no beginning and no end.
    he's outside of time.
yeah it sounds hard to grasp since we have finite minds.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

I fail to believe the universe is infinate. It just boggles the mind to think how that could be possible.

The amount of information in universe is just inifinitely bigger than what 500 crore human brians can possibly hold.

Nah, of course the universe ain't infinite. Nothing real & physical can ever be infinite. I think ol' Albert was just trying to drive the point home about human stupidity as regards war and the atomic bomb, etc.

^^ He's right, the Universe is actually expanding at light years per second. I think I heard somewhere that one day it will "snap back" and everything will be gone. Probably wrong though.

The simple answer is that no one knows if the universe is infinite or not yet. No one has seen the edge of the universe so who knows if it is or isn't.

Where it gets really crazy are the theories that there are universes outside of the one we're stuck in. If so, what's outside of that?

The Universe is not finite. There are many dimensions besides the first, second, third and fourth. There are about ten or eleven we can postulate thus far, and further than that I believe would mean alternate universes. Yay.

Just know, I believe we are a cluster of galaxies and beyond the great distances of our cluster are other clusters which go through bangs and crunches. Well - I figure this means the human species as a whole under my leadership can survive forever should we travel to these other clusters that go bang and crunch, and forever last.

Or we can blow ourselves up.

The universe is not infinite. It is said in the Quran:

(51:47), "And it is We who have constructed the heaven with might, and verily, it is We who are steadily expanding it."

God has created the expanding universe. One day it will come to an end.
When and how? Only God knows.

The universe is not infinite when looking outwards, however it can contain infinity.

If you can figure this one out you have the answer.

whether the whole universe came from a big bang or it continously expanding, the bottom line is, there's a supreme being behind it.

Which one? The Christian God? Allah? The Indian god Vishnu? The New Age force of the universe? Also, does this supreme being have ID so we can verify who He/She is?
