Have you ever been effected by sudden SERP drops?

Please leave your coment if you've ever been effected by sudden SERP drops. State the exact dates and details if possible.

 

Long time ago. I had site that i tried a link exchange and google Pr went from 5 to 2 fast. The site that i linked with might have had some bad links also not sure.

 

a PR5 to a PR2 because of one "bad" link exchange? no way.

 

No no no, guys, i am talking about SERPs (Search Engine Result positions)

 

That serp drop happened to my site on 28th Apr. 2007. Since that date i havent done anything important with my site. I have been just waiting and thinking about what to do. I am getting hopeless about getting my old serp's back. I am really not sure what to do now. There are lots of SEO articles which are theoretical things. In practice, when i look at some competitors sites', i can easily find lots of things that are not parallel to the SEO rules (even opposite things).
SEO or not to SEO
Or i must wait and mustnt do anything with my site until Google's SERP algorithm changes and comes closer to my sites SEO structure

 

Yeah...one of my sites was at about 120 uniques a day before it dipped to around 45-50. Not very cool, and seemingly for no reason. It's not like I relied on it for income or anything, but it was hard to watch happen.

 

yup, same here, and I lost a PR point when I was expecting to gain one, I have no clue as to why.

 

Some times may because site indexed pages and backlinks dropped.

Have you checked them.

 

About one month ago I did some optimization on a site by increasing the keywords slightly. I took the visits from 50 a day for 2 years up to 100 a day. Then about 2 weeks after I did that, the site has droped to 5 visitors a day.

It is now one month and I am patiently waiting for it to come back.

Google basically is telling people "Don't touch your site or we will hurt you"

I have many sites I would like to improve based on what Google tells me to do, but I am scared that it will hurt my business.

 

During updates of old I have seen serps drop and come back after 2 weeks to one month later.

 

My site not drop but stay with the same low PR3

 

I'm not affected with by SERP drops. My rankings are still the same.

 

Some pages usually drops from the serps after updates, but comes back up again after a day or so.

Yep! I agree!!! And let's hear webmasters with at least 2 years experience. Some people's replies look like they found DP forum a month ago, shaped up a site according to those "PR threads" and now we read - "My positions never dropped but PR got to 3" - Totally useless coments.

After 2 days my serps are back

 

I lost the SERP position for 3 month approximatively. Now I lost PR, but I am beck with SERP position. I didn't do anything in the mean while.
It's very hard to understand google.

 

many times in one week my sites plying hide and seek game in google

 

It's happening right now to me for "funny stuff"

Yestarday i'm no where the top100 serps hopes it comes back soon becouse is strange ..... and is affecting me bad

 

IS it possible to have a Pagerank drop just because of a bad link exchange or
selling links as in the second post of this thread says 5-2 just becoz of link exchange.
