news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6610839.stm A member of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's cabinet has resigned in protest against Israel's handling of its 2006 war against Lebanon. Eitan Cabel is the first member of the government to step down after a report accused Mr Olmert and his government of failures of judgment over the war. "I cannot sit in a government headed by Ehud Olmert," Mr Cabel said, calling for Mr Olmert to resign immediately. Mr Olmert says he intended to stay in office despite the damning report. Mr Cabel, who did not hold a portfolio, said Mr Olmert should resign as he had "lost the trust of the people" following the investigation. The six-month government probe, led by retired judge Eliahu Winograd, accused Mr Olmert of "serious failure in exercising judgement, responsibility and prudence" during the war against Hezbollah. It also accused Defence Minister Amir Peretz and then chief of staff General Dan Halutz of serious failures, but stopped short of calling for any resignations. Gen Halutz has already stepped down, and Mr Olmert and Mr Peretz are under pressure. Mr Olmert is already suffering unprecedented unpopularity levels and is expected to face calls for his resignation at a mass rally planned for Thursday in Tel Aviv. Mr Cabel was a member of the Labour Party, the main partner in the ruling coalition with Mr Olmert's Kadima party. About 1,200 Lebanese and 160 Israelis were killed after Israel launched a 34-day war against Hezbollah militants who had captured two Israeli soldiers. The two soldiers remain in captivity.
Hopefully Israel will learn from this experience and next time the Lebanese attack they will be much better at defending their citizens. Eventually I hope that they figure out a way to keep the Lebanese from conducting attacks on Israel completely.
"israel" attacked Lebanon first and occupied their land and took prisoners. This terrorist entity called "israel" was formed in Palestine by terror and genocide and continued this way since then. The war in Lebanon was planned before before the kidnapping of the 2 soldiers which is an ordinary act of self defense since "israel" holds Lebanese captives since its occupation of Lebanon and refuses to release them. seymour hirsch exposed in his famous New Yorker article that "israeli" officials visited the White House earlier in 2006 summer to get a green light for an attack on Lebanon to destroy Hizbullah. Here is a link to the article : http://www.newyorker.com/archive/2006/08/21/060821fa_fact
Uh huh... The Lebanese invaded Israeli territory, murdered some Israeli soldiers and kidnapped others. In addition, they fired numerous rockets across the border in an attempt to murder Israeli citizens. They did this for two reasons: 1. To attempt to trade the kidnapping victims for convicted criminals currently serving prison sentences. 2. To attempt to get Israel to invade Lebanon, which would ease up internal power struggles between various political factions within Lebanon. I can only hope that this even has taught the Lebanese the futility of these violent actions. Even if the Israeli's do trade a hundred terrorists for the hostages, they still lost many more terrorists than that during the brief confrontation -- in addition to quite a bit of military material. The war which they purposefully started did, temporarily, ease up the internal political pressure on the terrorist groups. However, this should not be expected to last forever. Eventually, the good and reasonable people of Lebanon will decide to purify their nation of the parasitic terrorist groups which are responsible for the economic and cultural stagnation with which they have been suffering for decades.
I think Israeli's occupied Israel long before that....God gave them the land about 3000 years ago...if you have a problem with that, take it up with God...it is actually the muslims who rode into Jerusalem and built a mosque on the site of God's future temple.
What an incredibly well constructed argument! Did you work hard to come up with that, or did they teach you that in one of the training camps?
You are wasting your time trying to talk to some of the idiots here mate, they will back Israel to the hilt even though Israel is a long long way from being the "model nation" some people think it is. You will not get much leeway with the sheeple in this P&R forum, some of them still even think that a "victory" in Iraq is possible when it's pretty clear that it isn't. I see the red rep brigade has been onto you too which just about shows their mentality.
Yeah, I've been suspicious for a while of action like this from certain people here. Hopefully, the moderators will take a look at this behavior. The thing is their ilk do much worse in real life--like torture people--and they sure don't want you pointing it out.
I went off to see if he had posted in any other forums except P&R, GD or Entertainment to "green him back" and he had posted in the Google forum so I gave the fella a green, he is now off red and is that grey colour. If a couple of other people (hint hint) find his Google post we might get the lad back to green. Remember that green don't count if you rep him in GD, P&R or Entertainment, which is why wankers will red rep ya from other forums instead. If you are against the miserable failure Bush and his corrupt cabal they all gang up on ya matey.
Yeah, I think that is their MO, but with red reps (or course green for each other). I do what I can to remedy these things The problem is they have high rep power, with the overdone posting and the nearly full green rep (I wonder how that happened ).
Haha are you talking about yourself again, like when you left me a red that turned out to be a grey because your rep power is weak & you also left a childish message aswell Anyway stop moaning about rep, that's what you said to me, even though i wasn't bothered about the "red". The only thing that concerned me was your message that you left & not because is was abusive & disrespectful but because it shown your true child like mentality.
The problem is there are neo-fascist here who seem to be trying to suppress dissent. Your rep drops low enough, and you can't have sig links or live links. As I said, the mods ought to look into this before it becomes neo-fascist point.
Are live links or little red images really that important? and you certainly can't moan about receiving red rep whilst handing it out yourself (AGS)
Did you know red is for disapproving of posts? it says something like "I disapprove of this post" maybe a lot of people simply disagree with your posts.
If you disagree, you don't use cyber-fascist tactics, you make coherent arguments...if you can. BTW, I thought you weren't supposed to get red reps in this area of the forums...perhaps you can explain this to me.
Sig links mean money for some people. You may have people afraid to express their opinions for fear of retribution (which by the rules of the forum shouldn't happen here). Live links mean information...so you gang up, play cyber fascist and silence your enemies--of course they can still post, but you have limited them. It's quite simple really. This has been abused here repeatedly and it ought to be addressed.
I don't think you can, but the crazys will go and find one of your posts in a different area of DP and red rep ya. Nearly everyone here that does not support Bush like some of these lunatics do will always get red reps from them because they gang up on you like a bunch of school kiddys.
Yeah, I have suspected it for a while, and I think the moderators should deal with it--and ban them as needed--unless they want to change the name of the P&R section to Bush Inc. or make digital point neo-fascist point. Because if you are going to have a general chat/P&R section and disallow reps in that area, then let people behave like this, it would be better just not to have the P&R section, since they are stifling dissent. Just like in real life when their heroes fire attorneys general, torture people, and otherwise stifle dissent and misbehave. http://freepress.net/presswar/=eliminate
