so I've a question, I have a list of sites to ping when new articles are posted, do I need to register to those websites to be able to ping them? or is it okay just to put them in the wordpress ping window?

You shouldn't have to register, just ping away. Do be careful not to send multiple pings, many ping services will hit multiple services.

Make sure you stumble them too. That is a good way to get traffic.

Just go to pingoat.com and click all the directories in the general section.

Don't ping the same site more than once a day, even if you have multiple posts.
