Does Microsoft offers an online validation process that allows us to verify that our copy of Windows is genuine or not. What we have to do, to request a genuine Windows download from the Microsoft Download Center. replies needed.

    thanks in advance.

Microsoft only has Authentication for Windows XP and Vista. If you do a Windows Update, it will prompt you to install the Windows Genuine Advantage plug-ins which would install and check your Windows License.

Alternatively, you can do it at http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/WhyValidate.aspx

get WGA as mentioned by eddy. It will do a check and will validate your windows automatically (if its actually valid).

Most updates or downloads from Microsoft.com will trigger the Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) thing anyway.

If it is not valid, they also offer an option to buy a copy so that your copy will be valid...

Aren't XP and Vista the only "supported operating systems" right now or is 2000 too?
