:D Very true... I'm lucky not live in a New York or a California... at least for right now.

Thanks Killafawk! I've sold sites in the past on Ebay and so far and never had anyone stiff me. I've seen sites around the caliber of mine go for $20K+

What makes Sitepoint different from Ebay, or even this board? Surely the same people on DP go to to Sitepoint...?

Sitepoint is more of a common place to see a bunch of people selling off sites. mostly because when you go there you gotta be prepared to use alternative payment method to paypal. a lot of people who sell stuff over like 500$ won't accept paypal because theres a lot of risk involved. you go through (blank mind i can't think of the service) but basically its the middle man that holds everything and when its transfered over they give you the money and give the site to the other person.

although you can do that on ebay if you wish but if you sold on sitepoint you would also have more webmasters looking at your site. which is more targeted traffic for selling and buying websites. Like thats where most of the big dogs roam to pick up the next big site.

killafawk, webgenesis. The "middle man" service you are talking about is escrow.com

Why did this site sell for only $9,000 on ebay? Is the site for real or are its claim embellished? Seems like it should have been worth more...

Yes, my site was worth alot more than what it sold for and no the income was not embellished, but I guess a business is only worth the dollar amount a person is willing to buy it for and how much a seller is willing to part with it for... It's the Law of Supply & Demand.

I probably should have put a RESERVE on it, because I was pretty sure it would've sold for at least $20K. Anyways, the real value of the site is not in the site design, the graphics, the software as that is freely available.

About 95% of the value is in the keyword marketing strategy that I put into place that the other TV on PC competitors don't have and don't know... That strategy can be duplicated for other site like PcTvPal, or even other sites, so I am not really all that mad that it sold for so low :)

Some bidders on Ebay can be funny... I've seen people bid $5,000+ on a scammy website that a seller "claims" makes $100K a year.. and when you research that site it has no traffic ranking whatsoever on Alexa.com and the website is only 3 days old according to Whois.sc. Crazy, huh?

Anyways, Ebay is good because it gets you exposure to the mass public. Currently I have 5 buyers who have contacted me about helping them design and market their own niche site, and if all goes through will be able to net another $15k ontop of the $9K ontop of the residual income I'm making from my multiple e-book sites.

sorry to hear that it only went for 9k, thats why it would have been better on sitepoint. Ebay is great for regular things but not for stuff like websites. 90% of the websites on there are from noobies who think there sites that took half a day to make are worth 10k. Sitepoint would of had the more serious bidders for a price that big. best of luck to you in the future.

Yeah, I will definitely get familiarized with Sitepoint for the future. I would like to sell 1 to 2 of my bigger sites each year.

    Thanks Will
