I ordered through a retailer and chose the 3-day UPS shipping. My question is, what do I do if I am not home? Can I leave a note on the door saying to drop it off at the local post office? Should I leave a note and tell him or her to come back later? What have you done in the past? (I would rather not leave it with a neighbor)
generally they leave a note for you saying that u werent home and u should pick it up from the post office
hold the phone home slicers...UPS or USPS??? I assume UPS - what can Brown do for you? (UPS sucks dirty bung but is cheap) It depends. Unless the package requires a signature (as some expensive items do), my UPS guy just dumps it at my doorstep if I'm not home. You could probably leave him a note to have a neighbor sign for it or whatever. Depending on how close the routing facility is, you might be able to pick it up after hours too...~ 8pm edit: I was wrong but too bad. my comedy stays. same thing applied for the USPS, you should be able to visit the post office and pick it up after he gets done with his route. again, MOST packages don't require a sig. You could tell him to stash it on the porch if it doesn't require a sig.
I've left them a note before, but they can't leave the package if it requires a signature. I have called them and gotten better ETAs on the packages delivery time, but at the very worst you can arrange them to hold it at their center or a local UPS store and then you can pick it up there.
Huh, a UPS store hold...I did not know you could do that. I think he meant USPS though, postal service not UPS but I think for the most part you could do the same if your situation did not allot for you to be home upon a 2nd delivery attempt.
Let me break it down for ya... Tell them that your dog has rabies, and that it is loose somewhere in the neighborhood. You'll be back, but only after the dog is found. Ask them to kindly leave the item by the door, and you'll pick it up after Schnookems has been "removed".
No, I mean UPS...not USPS. I left a note that said to come back at the times I will be home, or to leave it at the post office. I then signed it with my name. Hopefully that's enough- it will require a signature because it is worth around $2,000.
I think you should call them and tell them to drop it to your neighbors and also talk to your neighbors about that matter. Thats the pretty easy way ...
y, for a normal package that might be enough, I don't think they'd let it go in this case b/c of the value. unless he's a really nice guy, he probably won't retry during the times you specified...they are pretty much blow & go (deliver and move on, the faster the better). he said he's prefer not to do that b/c they are crackheads
yes, please update see, I thought I had my UPS guy pegged...47 of the previous 48 deliveries were after 4pm with the bulk between 5:07 and 5:32...well this last time the SOB threw me a curve/knuckle-ball - a curknuckle ball he tried to deliver my new digital camera @ 1:52pm...1:52? are you shittttting me?? I said. The one time he makes a flash gordon type delivery I was rather peeved. So I drove 18 miles to the UPS dock and waited with 32 other people....as a bonus the driver hadn't returned from the route yet....where'd he go a strip club? if he's @ my house @ 2pm...I have to be like his last stop!!! but I got the pkg. /mildly amusing anecdote
Sometimes they just drop it off at the door, I've had them do that kind of shipping twice and both just left it.
