Where to now?

I have a football blog that I have been running for around about a month now and am very much enjoying. Whilst I am new to DP I have been following the ideas and opinions that have been given very closely in order to promote my blog as effectively as possible.

The reason I post is that I feel like I have hit a bit of a wall in the short term. I have been working quite hard on link development (as I have been told this is one of the best ways to gain traffic through SEO etc) and have contacted NUMEROUS similar blogs/sites in order to link exchange and have received a couple of links - but nothing overwhelming. I've also contacted some directory sites to add links - very specific sites that will take a week or three to add my blog to their directory. In the meantime I have also been working very hard to ensure that my CONTENT remains top quality and I'm updating regularly.

My question now is something that I think quite a few new site designers will ask themselves at this point in the process: What more can I do to promote my site whilst I wait for Link Exchange replies?

    Any ideas?

Consider buy some links to get you started. Just see your budget and spend a couple of $$. Don't worry the more time you invest now in link exchange the better it will be for you. Link building is a hard process but it pays off!

    Not agree... at all.

    Stop buying links!

    It´s a waste of time and $$$...

First of all, you have to realize the power that today has .edu backlinks, and how easy you can get them.

High PR and long lasting effect...

And of course, you have to submit your site to "the cream" of best bookmarking sites... Here´s the list:

Promotion can be quite different from link building.

    Ok, you've
    • stalked the Solicitations and Announcements forum
    • submitted to digg and the clones
    • added to social bookmarking sites
    • Created a signature at relevant forums and posted helpfully
    • Commented on relevant blogs (but not in a spammy way)
Now you might want to consider getting an exclusive or unusual news story on your topic. That will take hard work but ... if you want to prove that your blog isn't just a me-too site but actually worth bookmarking and returning to then hard work is what you'll need to do.

Thanks for your help and apologies for the bumping!! Certainly won't let that happen again!!

As for your comments - this is great advice. Most of them I already do but I definitely need to up the ante in terms of frequency I suspect.

    Any other ideas?
