You can click on the 'Buy Now' button but do not proceed any further as you cannot pay yourself. By clicking on the button, you should be able to see the order form with the amount and details you have set up. If that is all you want to do, it should not be an issue.

From the posts from the rest of your fellow Indians, it would appear that it can take anywhere between 10 to 45 days after Paypal sent the check out. So typically, it depends on the postage services between the US and India.

4-6 to issue check (cheque), and 2 weeks to 4 weeks (some times may be longer) to reach to your inbox.

So typically, it depends on the postage services between the Singapore and India.

Cool! I did not know that they are mailing the checks out of Singapore now.

    http://www.singpost.com.sg/quick_services/downloads/AirmailTransitTime.pdf

I am from Singapore and from Singpost website, airmail from Singapore to India should typically take between 6 to 10 days assuming you are from Madras, Mumbai or Calcutta. International Mails takes about 1 day to get out of Singapore and the rest of the time would depend on the foreign country's postage service. I supposed the more remote you are, the longer the check will take to get to you.

No, Paypal does not offer direct bank account transfer of funds. Check will be mailed to your registered address and then you need to bring that check to the bank.

Some Indians are using Xoom.com to get their money quicker as Xoom will deposit into your bank account.

You can have a US Bank account instead if you want direct payment to your bank account.

Well, I would think that it all depends.

Xoom.com charges 3 flat rates of $8, $13 and $15 at different withdrawal amount and their current exchange rate is US$ 1.00 = INR 39.9193 . The minimum withdrawal amount is US$25.

I am not from India so I do not know what the exchange rate for Paypal is but I guess it is around there. Paypal checks cost US$5 flat and the minimum withdrawal is US$150.

Well, I think speed is not really a big issue if you can get a better rate at Paypal because if you are withdrawing on a regular basis then the speed is not the issue because you be constantly expecting receipt of payment on a specific date so you can pre-plan your expenditures for the coming months. I know that now with the falling US$ exchange rate, every single rupees you save from fees would mean you get more money to spend at home.

Of course if you need emergency funds then Xoom is a good option.

You will alwayes get less exchange rate from paypal withdrawals because they charges 2.5% for currency exchange.

I would think that Xoom also includes some foreign exchange fees which is incorporated in the final exchange and they are just not too upfront about it.

Why not. You just need to have them deposit to your bank account and you be fine. You cannot do the pick-up option.
