What do you think of the style I've created for http://www.webbusinesstalk.com

looking for constructive criticism...also, if you'd like to comment on more than just the style that is fine as well (though there is still a lot of work to be done on site features)

I feel the design (especially the logo) is quite amaturish. Id thank about doing something more like http://www.webmaster-talk.com/ . Cleaner, less busy, more focus on content than ads.

You're logo is a little to busy and I had to focus my eyes to read. Here is another competitor to your site that has a pretty good logo:
    http://www.earnersforum.com/forumsindex.php

i liked the logo..i think it combines old school with web 2.0!
(spiders web representing the web,and the talk icons popular in web 2.0 design)

webmaster-talk.com's logo looks like the designer was too lazy to come up with something unique.

I get sick and tired of looking at similar logos and sites..what is wrong with people? If we are going to have similar logos we should have 1 giant website.
    lol

I dont think the web should be eliminated, I just think it is too busy. Maybe something like earners with the web instead of the hunk of cash?

lol...1 giant website...that'd be one horrible navbar...

i guess my main issue is i like gradients too much...

i'm with you on the fact that the one logo looks like the designer was too lazy...i didn't like that one at all...

i'm torn between logo styles...i like them to be readable easily...but i also like them to look like a bit of effort went into it...

i'll probably just end up making a few different styles...and let the users pick what they like the best :)...i always love a win/win

I like the idea of letting the users pick. Creates some buzz on your site (reader feedback, more posts, etc).

i don't like the cash on the earners forum one either LOL
I can see your point how it might be too busy..

currently the logo is eye catching..

also, is the focus supposed to be on the logo or content?

you could just get rid of the speech bubble?

The content, which is why I think the logo should be "less busy" so not to distract the readers.

it didn't distract me, at first glance my immediate thoughts were.."professional,i'll have to read more,i'm curious"->to the overal site appearance.

    I got an Idea!!!
Don't change the logo..instead introduce the same green colouring in other areas of that main page..to lead the viewer..highlight the areas you want the viewer to focus on.
for example on the right side "recent threads"
move the forums link under the logo to the right side of the menubar.
oh and use the green on the titles of the recent threads perhaps..not the recent threads title itself..balance it on the other side too..
not sure which though..i'm still thinking..

OR..using a pale shade of green (the same pale green in your logo)use as the background colour to the boxes..on main page..to spread colour around evenly for balance. you could still highlight the new topic titles in a bold green..

I actually have plans to do that...once i start adding some actual content (blog articles for one)...

i tried to incorporate it into the actual style but it just didn't look good, though i did give up a little too soon...i'll check back into that as well too :D

I had trouble getting a web to look nice, but I came up with this:

Id also recommend removing the ".com". If they are viewing the logo at they site they should already know it is ".com". Also, .com is more often than not assumed. If it was on an extension other than .com, then I would add that extension into the logo.

I don't really like that logo much...though i'm still trying to get a feel for the w2.0 kinda style...as you can tell i'm having a hard time adjusting to it...lol...

i think the reason i put the .com in there is because the .net will soon be redirecting the the site as well...though i'll consider taking it off...as well as removing the stack of money (though silly me forgot to save the 'before' psd before i screwed up the web...so i'll have to do that again...lol)

The blue is great, the font is consistent =D but i think the banner is abit overworked, but that's not really a big issue. As a whole, it is eye-catching and professional and I like it. cheers! :)

One last thing before I bow out... why is your advertisement box (in the header) such a unique color than the rest of the site? I find my eyes wandering to it way to often.
