actually, once you are in enough directories, you will realize just how much traffic certain categories of certain directories can get you.

in order get a good pr, u don't have to get in to all this exchange links directories,
anyway, u site won't be in the first pages and who knows, when google decide to crawl that page where your site is listed.

    2. no one will be able to find my business in any directory. because directories don't have what Google likes: theme. so many subdirectories, so many different companies listed on same page.

in order to come up on google search , In my view, need to get a great name for site, and great keyword,
i had pages with 1 pr and 5 pr. and keywords are huge players and name of the websit are this game not PR. like so many people think.

directory, waste of time. People who search in directories are the same people who wants to advertise or get link exchange with them.

As person, i would never search Alive directory or DMOZ for anything,
    what's the point?

just go on google and type what ever u want. And belive me, that the search result most of them not from directories.

my view, waste of time and web

Are you certain G bot is actually a human from time to time? ;)

I used to think G fakes and the employee checks up on high PR sites to re-evaluate the PR. But as far as I know, I have never heard/read a case like that.

Alive is PR6 indeed. But it is surely the place people look up & get traffic from.

I have many directories, like 28, and the report on those are 2 went from 3-2 but all of the rest went from like 0-2, 0-3, 1-3, and a few stayed at 3! I am pretty happy with the update and I can safely say that dirs are not being targeted! If they would have done what Matt said they might do, Google would go down!! They know that now I think! That's my opinion anyways!!

Thx for coming out the closet :p mind sharing your list of 28 directories? :D

And it seems we are in the same boat as most of all the directories that were
updated in my network also moved up just 1 PR level :( .
It seems some off mine didnt get updated this round or the update hasnt totally finished though this
is the fastest ive seen the datacenters stabalize and show new PR levels unlike last update that took
almost 1 month for all datacenters to show the same PR.

    thx

I don't know what sort of profit you get from your online business. But alive is one of the fastest growing and biggest directories.

It may look a waste of time in your eyes. But many directory owners do a good business with them. Not a waste of time for me either ;)
