Islam can be about peace...and I think most muslims would say that...the same could be said about any religion....but every religion also has its share of nutjobs, and those that support them.

There was a majority of Jews in Madinah who believed that a prophet was about to come. And when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) called people towards God, they readily accepted him and soon Madinah came to be known as "The City of The Prophet (PBUH)".
This shows a problem with the koran....even if you do good deeds, if they are not as good as someone else, you go to hell....no thanks. God gives grace, not eternal damnation...
That is not eternal damnation. If one repents and promises never to do wrong again, his previous sins are forgiven except SHIRK, ie making someone equal to God. Also there are many things to wash ALL your sins. Like the pilgrimage to Kaabah or a fast in the Month of Ramadan with the true spirit of piety. God is All-Merciful!

but i'm not sure you should have to repent for doing less good than your neighbor...this is not the type of God that I believe in...nor do I think God would judge us on our works. Again, I find this very problematic, as with many other things in the koran.
If God was to make Islam completely dominant in the world, then there would have been no use of Heaven and Hell, nor would have there been any distractions and no need for this debate. This world is a test for our faith. If we believe in him and follow His commands today in this short life, we will abide eternally in Heaven. If we live today according to our decisions, otherwise.
How do you explain that without the teachings for God from the Koran the Japanese are more technologically advanced that all the Muslim countries combined ? They have no Allah and are doing better than those that worship Allah. The Japanese are smarter, more affluent and more PEACEFUL. If this is so, How great can your Allah be that they don't need him ?

But for some reason Allah thought that Jews and Christians believed they were not human. 5:18 I'm still waiting to find out why "Allah" thought being "sons of Allah" meant you were not human if Jews and Christians never believed they were not human. What argument is trying to be made here? Even Muslims on this forum have argued that they are sons of Allah in some sense. The same sense as Jews and Christians.
