Titles longer than 63 characters will be cutoff in Google search results. The longer your title, the less effective each keyword is.
Yeah I was wondering about this with my site. My title is essentially the same as the link in my sig. Do you guys think I should shorten it? I noticed yesterday that I have finally actually achieved what I was aiming for with this (I also use it in all my forum sigs and when I link trade with other similar sites). My site is now on the first page when searching for Clipsal 500 Grid Girls. Pity the Clipsal 500 was 2 months ago and no one is searching for it anymore!
I would say that title is too long. It's cut off so I can't read all of it, and truthfully it is so long that I don't even try. I don't think titles need to be extremely short, but they should be short enough to get read.
Way too long, I believe it should be for 2 to 3 keyword phrases. If you have that many keywords, build pages for the other keyword phrases.
I dont care about attractive. This is the SEO forum, ill do what is required to get the most optimization.
Kalyse, Don't think the title is too long. Easy to remember and I know what to expect when I find this URL elsewhere. Nice domain . Renoir makes a valid point here. This is one point that should be kept in the back of your mind. Ensure all your keywords are not placed beyond 63 chars. *** Before any one wants to pull of a debate on the above claim, that's something I've personally discovered, tested and realized. If you don't think that way or think it has nothing to do with optimization, you are more than welcome not to use this technique, but you wouldn't want to loose out on competition .. do ya ? *** Kalyse, in case you failed to notice, vk_lisbon has a right point. We know this is SEO forum. For example, everyone knows, who income.com belongs to and you most probably know what to expect from that domain. The same author could have bought fasdfasfasfasf.com and can have the same or similar content in fasdfasfasfasf.com but it becomes difficult for your readers to remember it. While optimizing, don't just think about SE's. Returning visitors are those who like what you write or want want you have to offer. So, statistically they are potential buyers or your profit elements. Keeping this point in mind, may not make you a millionaire, but heck you might get a few extra $XXX every month. All the best for optimizing, Regards,
I was with everything you said up until you started talking about the domains. Its <title> that Im concerned about. The pure content, words and keywords are added for sole SEO purposes, not user optimization. I noticed what lisbon said and I still strongly disagree that a short title is better. For strengthening a single KW possibly, for for covering a wide scope, definately not.
All I can suggest is make sure your most important keywords come first, make it as long as you want (within reason).
I think the title is all right and will be helpful for SEO. The reason I think the title should be short is that it is easy for the users to remember it as well as to let anyone else know about it verbally.
Im sorry if this offends anyone as it isnt intended to, but the quality of responses (on the whole - not all) has been pretty junk. I dont consider myself a great SEO but I do know enough and also that I wouldnt do nearly any of the things people have suggested. Despite what dangers people say when SEO'ing a website when you design it for a SE, thats exactly what I do and exactly what this this forum should be about. Human/User Optimization is probably best suited in General Marketing, as thats what 'remember-ability' would fall under. I am optimizing my pages for SE only and while there is obviously a link between the two, the things suggested by some, dont compliment both and are exclusive of each other. ie. Making it shorter to be more rememberable, but then losing out on my multiple Key words. It doesnt matter.
i tested putting the company name at the beginning of the title tag and seeing how this affected my SERP's. then i changed it and put the company name at the end. this seemed to improve SERP's for me so i tested it on other pages within my site and it had the same effect. i hope this helps but i realise that tips may work for one person but not for all.
In creating your Title consider a lot of factors like in viewing in SE... It mus have limit to 60 characters.
