I knew it was a no go and could get your account ban but I saw this video site which has thick border around the ads but also 4 images on the left side of the ads.

I was refering to the address below
    http://www.fixvideos.com/Fast-secretary.htm

Is this allow? I mean that guy has border around the ads.

That's one of the worst cases I've seen:

Even the ads covered with borders is a NO?

Seems not OK to me, "draws attention to the ads"

Last I heard images were not a "gray area", they were absolutely forbidden to be placed next to ads.

Mmmm, quite bad. I think they might also interpret some of those thumbnail images of being adult content.

That's my understanding as well; just looking for confirmation. I was wondering if anyone is using Joel Comm's adsense templates which use this technique. I have a couple of sites myself - looks like the images need to be removed now.

Seems to me like if you created 2 colums, had your ads in one (like you do now) and the images in the other, and linked your images to actuall pages in your site... and then clearly stated that column 1 was videos and column 2 is advertisers, it may pass..

images end up beside ads all the time. example: banner ads and logos

just use adsense for image beside your adsense for text, but it will hurt your CTR :p

I wonder why is he using border, it will decrease CTR.

and images are not allowed to use like this.
