I noticed that many websites who sells domain puts up a very high price (few thousand dollers) for domain which have some sort of brand value or contains 1 or a combination of keywords. Well I'm wondering who determines this price and how is it calculated? Is it justifiable for a domain to be $200- $8000 (with no PR, no site- nothing at all). Thanks in advance.
Its the owners choice to set the domain value. Honestly there are some really crappy domains out there for some really high prices. Ill sell you pooporfood.com if you want it for 30,000 lol From what I have found people that make money off of domain names buy lots and sell cheap.
Don't know. Most if not all domain owners out there think their names are worth more then what they're worth, exactly like real estate. Which websites are you talking about? Sites like GreatDomains.com?
Thats exactly what I am asking....I mean...i find these prices illogical.....What do u guys say??? I mean which numb nut is going to pay $50,000 for a domain which has no reputation on the net at all.
I agree that some people don't know the value of their domains, however, certain names can be very very valuable. A dictionary word that is commonly used like fun.com could easily start at mid $xxx xxx - to a lot more money. So yes the if the name is that good it can be worth a lot. Some are obviously not worth what they want. But as someone mentioned. A domain is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. Skinny
