you must enable the PR toolbar for them to track you.
You can actually sign up and see your web history.. It's pretty neat, it will go back as long as you've used the tool bar and the session is the same..

Google has been watching all of us for a long time, we can now see some of what the can see.

Google tracks Raw Data, unless you willingily sign up to any of their services and provide detailed info such as name address etc your just another statistic.

Your ISP is what you should be more concerned about, they can match your browsing habits directly to your name, address, credit and banking info, phone number etc.

Google cares more about the raw number and statistics, and how they can leverage it in to profits then they do about you personally. Besides, when the government requested information from 30 odd engines, Google was the only one to say no and take it to court.

Saying you've done nothing wrong so you have nothing to hide is a very sad attitude. So you don't care if the government illegally taps your phones, cause you have nothing to hide? What a terrible attitude.

Google does it for years in order to show more relevant AdWords ads to us. More relevance to your interests in ads cause more clicks which make them become richer and richer.

I had prepared a homework about this issue last month including Google Toolbar, GMail, Google Search, Google Phonebook, Google Docs&Spreadsheets etc. and their interests to our personal web surfing or general information.
