How did I get a PR4 on a site that has never got more than 100 UV a day. Right now I don't even update the site (blog) so often and I only get 30 UV a day. I started the blog in mid January. Anyone can explain this to me? I do rank pretty highly in google for various (not so competetive) terms but I'm still confused.
I grabbed PR3 on e-scuba.com with virtually no backlinks. I'm not sure what happened. However, the domain is 8+ years old.
Oh, I think I'll hold on to it. It's actually a personal, religious blog that does not run any ads so I don't really care about PR but it's just an interesting development. I mean, I registered the domain in January 07. PR4 in 3 months??? Is that normal. I'm not an experienced webmaster and I would like to know if this is normal. If it's not, I need to jot down what I did to promote the site and duplicate it for the other sites.
do you have a lot of ads on it? I know this is going to sound stupid, but my highest ranking site only has one single ad per page and it isnt google, and it is at the bottom www.dunriteprinting.com I built it in 2000 though, and really never changed anything until about a month ago, when some customer told me the script to estimate t-shirt cost was not working. So I think sites that are self supporting and dont need ads do a lot better, so my theory is, build a site, no ads, and ad content on a regular basis, and do that for like 6 months and I think it would rank through the roof.
PR is 100% determined by backlinks to your site. Age, content, visitors or anything else doesn't matter for PR.
That sounds right I guess. There was one phrase I went after in my backlinks. that phrase is in my domain name, title of my blog, and in the anchor text of every backlink. Also, my backlinks are from blogs in the same niche area so maybe that helps. The only other thing I did for backlinks was add my site and RSS to every single directory in Robin Good's article. @ catyak As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I don't have ads on it.
totally agree with that. currently google has just updated their PR and i'm happy with the current updates for my site.
try checking the number of backlinks u have and see if there are any strong sites linking to you. Also, if u rank highly in some non-competitive keywords, it means that your site is not doing too shabbily in terms of content and keywords
Same as with my 2 sites in 3 months I got 2 PR4s from PR0 and I only have few daily traffic but I've done some link exchanges.
I got PR 4 and three for my tow blogs with in 3 or 4 month see this http://badcreditunsecuredpersonalloansuk.blogspot.com/ http://onlineunsecuredbusinessloan.blogspot.com/ Cheers Aryan
You got PR4 because of the number of backlinks does your site have. Google evaluated the site for the number of backlinks and quality links. My blog is only one month and it is PR4 maybe because of link exchange partners.
I got PR3 after 3 months after my first site went online. Due to inner linkage and backinls some of the most important pages also got PR3 or PR2. I also got PR1 for the perfectly on-page optimized page having only 1 !!! link from another my page. I never tried to gather backlinks for that page but maybe due to it's perfect on-page I'm getting traffic from Google.
