Using the same article on different sites?

Hello, my first post. I apologize if this has allready been covered.

For the first time, I am paying someone else to write original articles for my site. I am wondering if, after receiving the articles, I can submit them to a site like articledepot.com to get a back link and also post them on my own site. I am asking because I have heard that if you are going to do that, you should change the article some, so it is not the exact same article in 2 different places. Is this true?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

If you are paying for original articles and you are sure that they are unique (Check with copyscape) then by all means DO NOT post them, or allow them to be used, on other sites.

Unique original content is one of your website's most valuable assets.

If you re-write the content check it with copyscape to be sure it is different enough as to be unique.

You dont download it. You can just go to http://www.copyscape.com and enter a url. To check copy and pasted text you have to pay, but you can just upload the content to a page and then check the url free

I'm going to be trying a similiar idea with a site I just bought, www.ec5.org and I was under the impression if you pay a ghost writer it's fine, but as someone already pointed out it has to be unique.

What I am going to do, is write a few articles and then keep a few articles only on my site that are original.

I'm lucky though, I used to write for lame ass technical article for a publication that went under, and all those articles are all mine. Besides I think only like 4 people every read them anyways...and they all worked at the same company...

Hiring a ghost writer is fine. Just be careful and be sure they are providing you with original content. I (and many others) have been stung by plagiarized copy and paste writers more than once

Make sure your titles are fairly unique & keyword rich too.

Titles are like 40% of SEO (another chunk being backlinks).

If there's already a popular article out there w/ the same title... you're screwed!

I think the strategy of writing articles, and submitting will hurt more than help. You risk getting slammed in to the supplemental index (google), where you will be for a long, long time.

Writing articles and submitting them will in no way put you in the supplemental results. The actual pages in the article directories that include your articles will probably be put into supplemental results (which may not be very good for the backlinks) but this will not put your own site into supplementals unless you also publish the duplicate content on your site.

I write articles to promote my sites and submit them to article directories and I see a lot of traffic as a result. These articles may not contribute to my PR, but they do give me real, human traffic, which I 'covet' much more than PR value

I would agree, I don't think I could trust anyone that I had not met. I have already contacted a couple of people about writing some articles, not as a ghost writer, but just becoming part of my site and still using there own name, but they are people that I know and trust, and have read some of there previous writings already. The one guy I want to get has wrote some stuff for a the chicken soup people, and his writing is great.

You can usually get a good idea about the quality of a writers work from the iTrader feedback. I have hired numerous writers right here on DP that did excellent work.
