UPDATE: Based on suggestions, this is my latest revision:

First off, I just found this site from a friend. Looks like an incredibly great place for information, so I Imagine i'll be coming here a lot. Just wanted to say hey, and here is my topic:

    Here is my design:

I feel like it needs something that portrays what the site is about.

My site is mainly a forum for discussing games. That is the message I want in the header.

This is what I am currently using:

Pretty much the same thing. It is being used on my phpbb boards, but I am switching to vb, and wanted to pretty much keep the header the same.

This is what came with my vb style:

to me, that orange background just seems too busy and takes away from the title. That spot on the left for the site name is also too small, which is why I pretty much just pasted my old header onto the new header.

Anyway, any suggestions from you pros? I'm not that good at this creative stuff, so I figure some helpful tips would be appreciated.

Also, I want to think of something to put in the top left corner, where that white space is. Is it fine like that? I do have a little logo, but my logo is really just that blue 'K' you see, and putting it again in the corner would be a bit redundant. Any other ideas?

Would it be good for adsense?
I was also thinking of just having some random text there, that I can chance frequently. I just had a little idea of having AFKAY: (insert definition here). Of course, there is no real definition for AFKAY, so I was just going to put random stuff there, such as AFKAY: The best tasting ice cream, AFKAY: the last digit of Pi, etc.

I would minimize your font color and use a dark orange for the order instead of black. Also.. I would apply some sort of glossy web 2.0 like effect on the font.

i would suggest you change ur font color to black or either white.

and like 8everything suggest, reduce the size of the font.

    it looks too kiddy now.

thanks for the quick responses. I went with orange because it sorta distinguishes the site, and makes it look less generic. Maybe I could use a duller orange instead.

What do you mean 'use dark orange for the order'?

heh, gotcha. Thanks for the tips guys. I'm thinking to maybe put my logo in the top left white space. Not sure what I would do with that banner space though. Would be good place for an ad maybe. What do you guys think?

Personally speaking the color is just fine. The only thing that I would change is the color of the name. I would make it a bit darker so that it sticks out.

Thanks. Which header are you referring to though? I have several revisions.

Thanks. I realize orange isn't a traditional color, which is precisely why I chose it. I want to distinguish this site from others, and I think using something uncommon like an orange layout would help. I'll change the font though, sounds like a good idea.

for some reason, I can't find the edit button any more. Anyway, I changed skins, and, my header has changed quite a bit again.

Had a question (the creator of the skin seems to be long gone, and so is his site): How would I go about changing the "forum, last post, etc) from black to white?
