While the raw number might not be directly related, backlinks are still the only determining factor in PageRank. 20k PR0 links will give you a different PR from 20k PR3 links, true, but it is still just the links that count. Age doesn't play a factor. You can get a PR6 (or higher) from a single backlink though.

No, sig links have nothing whatsoever to do with it. It could have been anything from the loss of a single link, to simply the recalculation of distribution. As pages are added and removed from Google's index, what it takes to get x PR will shift. I'm guessing that DP didn't lose anything, but rather it was due to this shift that the PR went down.

Everyone noticed recent PR changes, that's for sure.
It feels so good to see 0 to 4 raise, especially for site that was not promoted in web yet Interested, huh?

It looks too great to be true, and soon I realized it wasn't come for free though.
I bought some ads + article in regional niche newspaper, site was mentioned there along with contacts. Everything 's simple - newspaper has a site with archives, ads + article appeared there after a while. That's all story.

Good luck webmasters and have a nice day!

Actually, mvandemar's reply got me thinking ... could it be the recent change of Google on the supplement's index? Alot more pages have been put into the supplements index lately.

A natural backlinked site such DP would have lost alot of backlinked pages to the Supps index. Whereas a site that has alot of links from homepages of sites (maybe brought) would be relatively unaffected.

This may explain why seemingly high profile sites has a drop in PR whilst a site that maybe has a few well positioned BLs would have a normal PR update.

    Just a guess though.

    Col,
Seems something wrong there if you have over 30K BLs and Google hasnt cached your site in over 2 weeks.

Sorry, I dunno what you can do.... I want to know too... lol

That's a good result for your first PR update. Keep plugging away at your sites and next time you'll be on for a 5!

    Confused again. ;)

    weird
The PR for some of my domain is now PR5 or PR0 (it was PR4 before)

for others it's split between PR4 and 5
    How to explain it ?

    Just checking. :p

Just so you know, even though the update hasn't finished propagating, it has actually finished updating. If you don't see any changes by now you wouldn't later either. Unless they change the snapshot date, but that pretty much means a new update altogether.
