Surround sound <3

Well, I finally got surround sound two days ago. It actually was bought for my laptop- but I won't be getting that for a good week or so.

So what'd I do? Hooked it up to my XBOX and played Halo of course! And let me tell you, it really does put you into the game. Everything sounds more real and definitive.

Plus, you can hear enemies shooting and locate them- even if you can't see them. Helpful for when the Covenant grunts are screaming in a corner and you are trying to put an end to their misery.

Anyone else addicted to surround sound?

I've always wanted surround sound. Unfortunately, I don't have the money right now and I doubt my parents would buy it for me.

Guess I'll have to stick with simple desktop speakers for now. =\

That's too bad! I really haven't experienced surround sound until now. Can't wait to get my laptop and put Counterstrike Source on it. I bet it gives you a big edge against those who don't have it :D

Come to think of it...how would an RTS employ surround sound?

I have a pretty cheap surround system. I use Durabrand (40-50 bucks) It works real well, I don't have any major issues with it.

As for surround in general, I love it. I even got surround sound for my computer now.

Yeah I was at walmart during new year and heard that 1000w surround sound playing and I couldn't resist but buy it. Come to thing of it it was an old model and its always cheaper to buy it online, but I couldn't resist but buy it in store for $200.

But yeah the only downside is when your not listening to it. I wish I could've been more patient and bought something of higher quality.

I'd be surprised if it was genuine 1000W RMS power output for that price. More then likely PMPO which refers to peak power output, which is completely misleading.

I love surround sound. I have a creative 5300 5.1 speaker with a soundblaster audigy sound card. Great for gamming :D

Always good when the parents don't like the "noise" you listen to :D At least that's what my folks call the music I listen to.

Oh, great. Do you have to have a particular sound card to play surround sound? My desktop plays it, and I just assumed that my laptop would without thinking about it.

Under the audio specifications, the laptop says:

Anyway to get the surround sound to work without upgrading the sound card?

a good surround sound solution for gaming is the Razer Barracuda HP1 Headphones and the AC1 audio card or any other good sound card.

I am using it and I no longer want to buy a 7.1 speaker system.

I'm also planning to have one for my room. A nice soundcard also helps enhancing sound quality. Can't wait to mine too. :D
