ok i have been getting annoying pop ups for the last two days and its not when i go to a particular site either... I think I have a virus or something.. I have no idea how to get rid of it but its popping up every 5-10 minutes errr.. also the pop up advertises different websites.. Yet I cant seem to track where its coming from.. I have tried scanning my whole computer which took 2 hours and didnt find anything... Can anyone help me figure this out?
scan your system with spybot search and destroy and AVG or AVAST all are free.. stay away from the porn sites
Its in your registry files, Go to pcworld.com and search "registry cleaner" and that should do it, #2 stop looking at well.......you know what you did
That sounds like a classic case of Malware to me mate. A friend of mine that isn't too computer savvy came to visit me last year, he slept in my front room (where my baby is) (PC I mean ) and was arsing about surfing the net, dodgy porn sites. Well, after he left I was having so many problems with crap that these shitty sites (not only porn) try to put on our machines. I narrowed it down to Malware, get a decent Malware program: http://www.ewido.net/en This should clear most of the shit out for you, coupled with a couple of the others that have been suggested (SpyBot is good.) Good luck.
grisoft.com download AVG (free version, virus protector) and then get their spyware program (also free for a limited time)...you will be fine.
i would rather reformat my computer as I havent in a while but my reformat cd is on the otherside of the world... at the moment lol. I cant seem to find the problem I have used like 4 different programs and not really getting any results..
If you use IE take a look at the add on programs that are installed on your system. You will find that under tools>options>programs. Disable everything that does not have a digital signature from a company you recognize, EVEN if it says Microsoft and is unsigned. Crapware intstalls as a browser addon most of the time.
I mis-spoke a bit there. What I meant to say was pay no attention to how official the name sounds. The name might say Microsoft whatever but if the publisher is not identified as Microsoft dis-able it. I currently have one that is identified as Windows Messenger but the publisher is not Microsoft. It was giving me pop-ups at one time. The same is true for all the others. If you break something you really want you can always turn it back on with a simple mouse click.
100% sure its a Spyware Download Barooka Scanner and scan your PC with it hardly takes 5 seconds to Scan the PC and it will show you the details of the spyware and also how you can remove them You need to remove them manually, Or else try Spyware Doctor Anyways Nice Avatar you got there
this looks like the most comprehensive list that I've ever seen realted to such issues: http://forums.g4tv.com/messageview.aspx?catid=64&threadid=466949&enterthread=y at least do steps 2-4 which have already been mentioned in this thread.
