The funny thing is, DELL just decided to return and sell machines with XP, since customers are demanding them. Another step back to Microsoft...

hmmm Windows vista 2, your friend (maybe imaginary) is totally wrong, they are finding it hard to sell vista.
Probably a new OS after 4-6years.

Haha, Vista 2. What a name.

Vista was codenamed Longhorn, but they changed it to Vista. I know nothing about server OSes or anything so I won't comment on that.

He's right. Vienna (Blackcomb) is the next windows OS. It'll be released 2009.

Bull. It's 2007. Vista hasn't even caught on. Microsoft hasn't earned the money they want off of it just yet - they'll postpone it until 2012.

When MicroJunkintheTrunk decides to force XP out in a year or two - I am going to a total Linux base instead of dual boots.

Agreed 100%, as long as someone can successfully port DirectX 10 to Wine/GNU Linux. I love gaming, and it's literally the only thing keeping me on the Windoze addiction.

Are you serious? I still see "DELL Recommends Vista Home Premium" on the front page of www.dell.ca.

I don't even want to think about the next OS, Vista's only been out for a few months (actually 3 months, 1 day - I think).

Note to self: February has fewer days so I'll have to rephrase that.

I too heard 2009 but we know better then that! Windows Longhorn was supposed to come out what 5 years before it actually did? P.S. for those that don't know what I'm talking about Vista used to be called Longhorn.

Yeah, I was following Vista deeply through PC World Magazine and some other sources and it had been delayed several times. I wouldn't expect anything different from Microsoft. Though, we don't want another Windows ME, do we?

hahah Windows Me was the worst! A lot of Vista's slow downs were not caused by Microsoft though. Everyone kept sewing them for having a monolopy.
