Logo/Header Contest - $30

I need a 285x220 image for the left side of my header at www.gollybeav.com

Contest to end at 1:00 PM EDT Sunday April 29

$30 payment to winner is to be via PayPal.

I would like the “work” (.psd?) files as well a final 285x220 image file.

I want a clean, fun, professional looking logo that works with the existing theme.

My target audience is most likely to be over 30 year old professionals, equally male and female.

I do not want any mention of arcade in the image because I have ideas that involve expansion beyond just the arcade.

I think the header should include Golly Beav but I do not want www. or .com included.

The best tag line idea that I have at this point is “Amuse and Challenge Your Mind”. A “Leave it to Beaver” type saying could be appropriate but the best I can think of is “Golly Beav, That's Cool!” and I'm not too excited by it. I am not really sold on the idea that the header even must have a tag line.

    Be creative, different.

    Thank you,
    Tom

    mitcharr,

    Thank you, an interesting idea.

It's darker than I was hoping and it just doesn't say "fun" to me, I think because of the darkness.

Good point, it is a dark look overall isn't it?

I am having trouble envisioning the orange next to the existing header oranges. Is there anyway you can paste that in place on my header and then post so I can see it with some of the surrounding colors on each side?

I would like the Golly Beav to stand out more.

I want to suggest more colors but there is kind of a limited palette to work with it seems. Design is foreign to me, this is a challenge.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    mitcharr,
Thanks that helps a lot. I just couldn't imagine how it would look. The orange splash may work but the text just isn't doing it for me at all. The font looks too thin and weak to me.

    Fidel,
I like those fonts and look but isn't the shape going to mean that only a small portion of the 285x220 image is filled?

    xxx,
I need a 285x220 image for the left side of the header. I want it to be some kind of logo.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    mitcharr,
I like the first two the best, they're different. Is there anyway to give the text some depth, I guess is the best term. It doesn't look quite right being so flat when the splash has some depth with the shadow. I'm not sure the green is doing it for me. I'm not a fan of green but I am trying to be open because the palette is so limited but even so I think a different color might work better for me.

    xxx,
I like the fonts and colors (though the blue doesn't go so well with the rest of the template) but I am hoping to fill the space more and if it is going to be text-only I think it is going to have to be more interesting text, fuller somehow.

    mitcharr,
I figured out how to get use Gimp to get a better idea of how it will look.
I have been staring at the full screenshot with that in place for a few minutes now and I just can't explain it but the text just isn't working for me. I really hate to not be able to give some idea of what could make it better so I looked at it for a couple more minutes and still I just can't explain it, sorry.

    fej,

Very nice, I really like it.

I especially like how you incorporated a number of colors from the site. It also has a nice weight to it and gives a nice balance to the header.

Only one very minor fault that I see is the I is capitalized in Mind.

Great job!! Gonna be hard to beat.

    Thank you,
    Tom
