Right alot of people asked me about this so i thought i'd make a thread Well i registered my domain http://www.listbook.net around march 16th. Not entirely sure when. It got a page rank 6 in some datacentres, so i'm going to assume in this update entirely. Proof: http://digpagerank.com/index.php?url=http://www.listbook.net&dc=18 Whois.sc: http://whois.domaintools.com/listbook.net I've been looking on this forum for a while, and i started thinking about how to get links and traffic on this site, so the first thing i did was take a site i own that is sort of related, gets around 10,000 uniques a month, and has 8,000 pages. I gave my new site a sitewide link on it. Then i submitted to directories (which personally i think makes little difference) The trick, i believe, is simply in social bookmarking sites, but the less popular ones (digg brings traffic yes, but links do not stay on it long and do not have PR) Also due to the slowness in submissions on http://www.43things.com i have a few almost permanent links there. Even though google only shows 8 backlinks, it shows me more in webmaster tools (500+) and importantly they are WORTHY and RELEVANT, which alot of directories won't give All in all, this took me a couple of days, and my site gets between 20 - 150 uniques a day now, which i know isn't great and unfortunately i'm not getting many sign ups, so if you like the idea of my site, or just this information, then sign up if you want. Oh yeah, i don't run adsense or anything on my site either. Not that i think that would make a difference in the slightest, but i kind of believe that people are more willing to link back to you themselves if they think your site is high quality and not solely geared to make money. http://www.listbook.net hasn't made me anything, but me and a friend spent loads of time working on it, just because we like it and it's a hobby, i think that's the most important thing Good luck with your updates people. Hope this helps.
Wow, that's awesome! How do you go about the process for getting your site in Netscape.com? I'm assuming you had an article of some sort?
Yeah, i wrote a mix of an article / press release and submitted it to bookmarking sites where the link would stay for aslong as possible.
added the only 2 days ago to see if it brings in traffic (another one of my sites gets 30%+ traffic from wikipedia)...also has nofollow tag...
google is changing PR algo? I have site with quite many PR 7 backlinks and only get PR 5 this time...
A question, if some of the results of Google DC say that the site is PR3 and some are PR6, does this mean that Datacenters are updating? Not sure about the disparity.
