My friend(and by my friend i really mean my friend and not me xD)

had this great idea, he wants to be a millionair, but is lazy. so he thought of making a simple website and asking people to donate to him thru paypal to make him rich. the template is written very well it makes you want to donate something because its very funny. i dont think it will work, i think it was done before...but can you really do that? can you actually make a site just for "begging"?

i wanted to ask before he went spend crazy on 10 domains

i figured peeps here would know the answers

I have seen alot of sites doing it. Do not know of any having problem with paypal. I also have seen sites that promote such sites. I think most people will not donate anymore it has been done so many times.

I personally wouldn't recommend building a site just to beg for money.

I have seen this done too many times with no success. You hear one story about someone who made money and then everyone thinks they can make something - you need to be unique to even have a chance.

I agree, easy money needs to be something unique. like milliondollarhomepage was exciting. someone got rich, many rip offs. not to just ask lol. just wanted to know the legal aspect of it. i dont want him going to jail or any or that....

If i asked all my myspace friends for a pound (and if they were true friends (as i only have real friends on my list) they would give it) then, though i wouldn't make a million, i'd be much better off.

    Ponder it.

(he'd probably only go to jail if he claimed he had cancer or something and wanted a last trip, then it'd be fraud by deception, just asking for it - fine, but will probably never work)

I my opinion, donating money to a website related cause will not go far away. I mean not many people would be interested. I recently came accross a website which requested donation for taking care of stray animals. I mean, animals which were abandoned and then taken care of with the help of money received in the form of donation. But if you are asking money for a genuine reason just like the above mentioned case and then not using the money but using it all for your self , it will automatically lead to a halt , in the long run.

yeah, well hes being real with his 1 page site. saying hes just wants to live like a millionair. go on trips, and all that jazz. hes advertising to people called "new money" the ones that were born into riches and never earned it. i applaud his attempt, but just asking wont get you much. even with say some publicity, at most he would make 200-300$ if he was lucky. ive seen a few sites where the person would send the donator a unique plaque, for every dollar donated...what ever the total was to 1 million that would be the plaque number for each donation. didnt get too far.

then someone else selling numbers 1 to 1000 on a wooden board, but each time one was sold it would cost more to buy one. they dude made some fierce cash.

hes not going to lie, IF he does it. hes being real, which makes it funny. but ive seen one like this. i just asked him over msn if i can host the page and show you people. he declined.

so looks like its legal as long as he is not scamming. but looks like its a no go

Nobody is going to donate a single buck to someone who is just "lazy".
    You need some original idea.

Yes, it works only for a blog that provides plenty of business tips that help out the problems on people trying to make money online.

And you can actually use a simple paypal donate script called 'Buy Me A Beer' or Buy Me A Beverage' but your blog must provides plenty of useful information that solve most of the problem for your visitors or subscribers and when they got the solutions to their problem, they will donate a certain amount of donation through paypal to you.

This may(5%) or may not(95%) work. May work if he is intelligent enough to let users aware that users are getting something in return. But, why do you want 10 domains? LOL

Beg for money and wants to be millionaire. Makes no sense. Instead try to get some original contents, people will love to donate you if any of your website content helped them. Last days I visit a website, which provides video tutorial website run by a single price. In one of his video tutorial, he told that he was denoted 40$s by someone.

So try to make website which helps people, or at least make them happy.

He won't become a millionaire by begging for money because he is too lazy to work and if it does somehow work . Damn him.

I don't really think this will work. Just look at one of Tyler Cruz websites which is quite similair to what you mentioned.

I'm not sure people will just donate to you without getting something in return or you being a registered charity. My mate went to college in the UK with the lad that started the million dollar pixel phase. He thought of it to pay his way through College but it went mad. He was a minor celebrity in the UK. I believe he didn't quite make a million dollars but somewhere in the region of $700k in 6 months which is still rather nice! :)
Problem is everyone is doing it so you need another wacky..crazy idea.

I guess you shouldn't spend time on begging. instead install a Blog and just keep writing whatever in your mind. You can earn lot more than begging. I'm Sure.

Write content now and something to keep people on the site...

Then beg off them later... :)

This is fully legal, although chances are it won't work, instead it'll just annoy people. Ask him to create a unique spin on things and see if he has better luck! :)

    LoLz,

that's something funny for sure, but do you know that someone have reserved / parked the domain beggarsonline.com so 1 day beggars might be having funds online.

The idea do not seems practical to me atleast (untill unless you are giving something in return of the donation).
