I own a good web host. I am trying to sell to a worldwide audience. I believe that more users like to buy hosting if it is in Dollars and not Pounds. Due to the pound being worth nearly double from the dollar and i live in the UK i wanted to sell using the pound. Do you think i would get more clients/interested users if i used the dollar and not the pound? Because the pound is worth more, would it even out and i make a bigger profit? Your opinions?
Hey, I'm in the UK... but I think in dollars. Yep - the pound is worth more than the dollar - especially at the moment, it's the highest in years. I do think, however, that dollars would appeal to more people. I believe that when people not from the UK see a website that has it's price listed in pounds only, they assume that it's not international - and leave. At best you would get hassled by people asking if you took other currencies. What I would say, is to list your price in either dollars or pounds - which ever you feel more comfortable with - but but the other currency next to it in brackets. I would think that this would then appeal to both markets - so long as you can accept payments in each currency, you should be fine. Dave
I do understand your point and if changing the currency to dollars gets more sales then it wouldn't matter as much
Since you are located in UK , you could encourage local people to buy your products by paying in Pounds. However, the large chunk of your customers, world wide would prefer Dollars sice it is Internationally acceptable to all. Now, its up to you to decide whether you want to concentrate on just few local ( UK ) customers or world wide customers, by using the Dollar mode of payment.
