Hi dear DP dudes, One of my clients wants to promote one of his websites and I am looking for some more oppinions before giving him a recommendation. Well it is a german website, but I'll explain you what it is about. http://www.unitedpage.de He offers his clients free website hosting and all sites are subdomains of his main url which are redirected to a subfolder of the mainsite. He doesn't show up ads on his clients websites! He has a marketing budget of 200$ per month. Now the question: Should he sign up for Adwords and start a campaign? or should he sign up as an advertiser at an affiliate company like zanox and pay per lead? Free hosting? That sounds like a good deal! What I would do is try adwords first (much cheaper) and people may be drawn to the attention by the free deal.
You must have to divide budget in 2 parts first try adword where the site will get guaranteed visits and your client will be initially satisfied with what you are doing, Then you can try affiliate program and others.
The point is, that the prices per lead at german affiliate companies are very low (about 50 euro cents, which is a common price) and a lead means a sign up at his site. If he would use adwords, he might pay up to 20 cents per click and a click si no guarantee for a sign up.
If you had tried zanox or such affiliate network then it is ok to invest on this but if you haven’t then Adword is best.
I have the feeling that there are some guys out there who only want o increase their post count. GRG please read carefully before posting, it is not for me it is for a client! So why should I "try"?
