I have been told that chicken are as bad as pigs and would eat anything, but did you know taht chicken have 2 stomach and select what goes through their system? so basically all the bad things they eat might not stay in their system.they have what is called a gizzard, which kinda acts like a stomach, and i believe that they also have a stomach.
and i think the gizzard main function is to capture inedible materials to be processed and broken down more slowly (like sand, gravel, dirt, etc) because they end up eating a lot of that as they roam around .

and cows i belive have 4 small stomachs.

if you do not like chicken as well do not eat pork or chicken
and start a new religion which prohibits eating both pork and chicken.
By the way if you are thinking of preaching your religion in the forum and belittle other religion, you may get banned fast enough.

Apparently pork used to be more difficult to store than other type of meats around the time Islam came into existence. That is one explanation for the original reason - and changing religion because of technical inventions is not really a popular concept.

There is simply no scientific evidence that states that pork meat is unsafe for human consumption. No country in the developed world has ever advised its citizens to abstain from eating pork meat on health concerns basis. Full Stop;)

I did not claim it makes sense (nor that this theory has been verified - it's a guess as good as any other)

Alaska you can add the jews also , its forbiden for them to eat pork .

From the web , i got this info :

Pig's bodies contain many toxins, worms and latent diseases. Although some of these infestations are harbored in other animals, modern veterinarians say that pigs are far more predisposed to these illnesses than other animals. This could be because pigs like to scavenge and will eat any kind of food, including dead insects, worms, rotting carcasses, excreta (including their own), garbage, and other pigs.

Its actually biblical...go back to leviticus and read:

Leviticus 11:7 7 The pig, for even though it has divided hoofs and is cleft-footed, it does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.

Later in the NT, God makes the Pig clean, when Peter has the vision of the sheet coming down from Heaven:
Acts 10:15 15 The voice said to him again, a second time, "What God has made clean, you must not call profane."

Pork meat, especially organs and indestines are transmiting viruses, germs when no proper care is taken, talking about the cooling chain. Now 1400 years ago were no fridges available and people died in masses when they ate pork.

Take an example of Daniel in the last book of the old testament. He refused to eat meat at all and became the wisest man. In fact he's my favorite Prophet from the old testament.

In my opinion pork meat has its own ill effects from the health point of view.I know that pigs can be breeded in good conditions with the bestsof food but yet poke meat should be consumed in a larger way.

I can't even imagine how many times they messed up when it comes to healthy food. What's discovered so far is not even the top of an iceberg.

    Hi LeoSeo,

So it’s ok to trust scientists enough to use computers, drive cars, fly on planes and seek their cure from diseases. Yet you don’t want us to trust them on food dietary matters, simply because they have made some mistakes in their previous findings or because what they've discovered so far is very negligible .

You explicitly singled out pigs from all other animals that we eat. I call it cherry picking, since you trust the very same scientists who say that it’s safe to eat for example chicken, lamb or vegetables. You may have also followed their advice to abstain from eating beef and lamb during the outbreak of BSE and foot and mouth disease respectively.

If I understand this correctly, according to you “Science (on healthy food) is wrong because god is right”. God has given us not a shred of evidence on why we should not eat this animal; all she says is that this animal is" impure". Is that good enough evidence for you? That’s what I call blind faith.

The fact of the matter is that more than 60% of the total number of human beings alive on this planet sees no problem in whatsoever in eating pork meat. In reality, many countries like china, Vietnam or Korea rely on that meat as their main source of protein.

Judaism and Islam can’t just simply deny those countries the right to such an important source of energy on the ground of baseless blind faith believes.
