Holly cow! Is it really worth that much!?

I have a three letter .se (swedish) domain. Today I was playing around on smartpagerank.com and this is what I found:

The estimated value of ***.se is: $6,056

Holly jesus all mighty!!! I almost fell off the chair. Is this for real? The site itself has little to no traffic and no rev. I had big plans for it, but other projects got into way.

So, is smartpagerank "reliable"? Is it really worth that much?

I would say no. Just like other free appraisal sites.

If you want an appraisal, post in forums like DP

Yeh, thats what I thought. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is :D

But, how do they (smartpagerank) estimate the value?

How can you even ask such a dumb question.

How the hell is a robot suppose to be able to estimate the value of an domain? The value of a domain can only be valued by those who find interest in it!

without the actual name, your domain will probably worth registration fee.

Most good names are taken and names like kxw.se or something like that means nothing, unless you find a buyer that is crazy for paying whatever you ask, and of course, it may also occurs :)

its not a random set of characters, its a very well-known word. Something like lol, brb... things like that. But more specific.

Yeh, but how do they value a domain name? There must have been something that made it show 6k$ and not 6$

Even if they were all premium letters, unless it's an excellent keyword, the appraisal is off.

The best advise i can give you is to put the domain on sedo.com, or search for similar domains and see what they went for. Possibly the 3 letters of your domain could have a meaning in Sweden that is much sought after, or possibley stand for an international company that may wish to operate in Sweden one day. List it up on sedo and see what happens. Listing the domain is free but you may have to pay a % to them if you sell the domain.

    Best of luck.

I am glad to see that people are enjoying smartpagerank. I would like to note that I found a bug in the code that, under rare circumstances, valuated a website much too highly. I have since fixed that bug.

I believe that the valuation assigned to the websites are fairly accurate. Of course, one website may be worth $$ to one person and $$$$ to another. However, I have done a lot of research and tweaking to the valuation algorithm and I believe that it gives a pretty good ball-park figure.

Automated appraisals should be taken with a grain of salt.

According to the site, sex.com is worth $28,185 :)

I bought artist.name some time ago. Had it appraised before everyone decided that the .name domains are not worth much. Came back as $38,000
Today I suppose I would have to give it away.
Ill never have another domain name appraised for $$ again.
Still shows on most robot appraisals as worth XXXXX
    Anyone want to buy it?
Check the forums. Many will give you a good estimate but there are some that will tell you they are junk just so they might have a chance to get the domain.
