About dying and food: Most people (children) die because they don't get enough proteins from not eating meat. The disease is called Kwashiorkor: the swollen belly comes from the fluid pouring out from the blood - this is due to lack of proteins in the blood. If someone is about to die from hunger, and there's nothing other than meat available, you'll let the person die? Everyone may have valid reasons why not to eat, or eat something. Occasional fasting is even recommended in many religions. But the whole discussion here is from the health viewpoint. Making philosophy from wrong logic doesn't work. Many Japaneses older than 100 yeras were asked about their eating habits. 'Modesty, eating meat rarely and a gulp of arak (Japanese distilled bevarage) every day' was a typical answer. Consuming alcohol and meat in excess have known side effects, but this doesn't make alcohol or meat bad. If pigs eat shit, and you eat the pig, you don't need to eat its shit. Chickens are emptied (bowels out) at my place. IT IS NOT LEGAL to sell sick animals, and it is forbiden to feed cows with any animal product in any decent country.
