I know that linkbacks to your site are pretty important when it comes to SEO. What about links from ads in other search engine's content networks?

I did a search for my 2 month old URL on Google and found about a page of results. When I went to the sites that linked back to me, they were all running Yahoo Publisher Network ads. My ads were no longer there, but I had run ads on the YPN over the last couple months. Google must have crawled these sites while my ad was up.

Do these links count at all toward my PR? I'm sure they're not that valuable, but do they count for anything?

IMO maybe in the short term, but not in the long term, because your links won't be there when Google Bot crawl again those pages

Not if they're Javascript ads, which most are, it probably just indexed the words, which may have been your domain name, doubtful that the link had any value.

No, these links are worth nothing in terms of PR - and Google cannot even crawl them.

Yea you really cannot improve your PR through any kind of mainstream link-buying scheme... the only real way to do so is through paid link exchanges which are frowned upon by search engines.

I'd say Yes, but very minimal. It has a lot to do with what sites Googlebots find your ads and whether those sites are credible.

Since your ads have disappeared from those sites, that would be taken into consideration when evaluating their contribution to your PR. I bet if you search your backlinks in Google 3 months from now, those links may no longer be there.

When using the content network and not site targeting specific sites, this really does me no good because I don't know what sites they are going to show on.

Oh well. I wasn't expecting anything out of it. I was just curious about these when they came up when I searched my back links in google.
