PS tool includes lot of other data which Google doesn't care about.
So you cannot compare both for same page.

Definitely PR is more important when compared with new generated PS. But PR itself has very very less value. You can fake it with ease.

No I was being factually serious most of these tools have data processing errata and as such on many occasions the results are in-accurate

Personally, Pagerank is more important, PS depends on some third-part-site data, some are easily to get.

PS also calculates other factors like Alexa (which is worthless), Technorati Links, and del.icio.us Links. The interesting thing about del.icio.us links is that a little while ago, quite a few directory owners on the forum were exchaging their delicious links for the sole purpose of increasing their PS.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=183865&highlight=delicious+Page+Strength

Since PS can be easily manipulated by setting up a del.icio.us exchange like the one seen above, the results should really be taken with a grain of salt.

Yes, but I am talking about high PR, low PR can be higher than PS but If you get PS8 you will not have PR8.

    Redirects is easiest for faking.

And for buying domains/links ... you should focus 95% on its backlinks.

Interestingly even if some one has fake PR but has enough quality backlinks to support its face PR then you should be +ve.

Backlinks are most crucial factor and never miss it.
